"You are so good at blogging about the most interestingly random topics!"
Friday, 31 October, 2008 at 8:32 AM It seemed like every hour or two, somebody was doubled over with laughter for yet another reason. Hanging out with Cindy Cage for two days straight was one of my favorite things about participating in A Bit of Indulgence last month. And her own laughter was infectious. Actually we didn't goof off the entire time - we talked about art and creativity and life and who knows what else? But we laughed a lot, too.
One of her daughters was there with us when she threw out that quote from the title. I have this habit of declaring that what's just been uttered would make a great blog topic. It's the curse of being a blogger: you're forever tuned in to "blog fodder" and when something interesting happens, you can't just let it pass as a fun or interesting moment. You think of it as material for your blog. So I'd been observing this infectious energy that happens between Cindy and her daughters when they're laughing together, and something had triggered one of my Blog Material Declarations. Cindy laughed and said, "You'd better watch it; Melody will write about you in her blog."
This warning led to a quick clarification that while, actually, much of what I see seems interesting for this site, quite often either a) it doesn't ever make it onto here, or b) I honor the wishes of my friends and colleagues and just as often decide not to write up the piece, out of respect for the comfort level of others. Cindy reassured me, then: "You are so good at blogging about the most interestingly random topics!" She clarified that, to her, this was a good thing. You don't know what you might read here, and she enjoys the fact that I might turn my readers onto a site she's never seen or heard of before.
I'm working on an entire blog post dedicated to Cindy Cage and her creativity and Utter Coolness and how we met and how I might just move into her house one day, and how I joke that I owe half my website design career to her. It's partially written, but takes more care than this little stream-of-consciousness diddy has taken. And today? I have a meeting across town in an hour and a half and need to shower. But you don't have to wait for The Big Forthcoming Cindy Cage Luv-Fest to learn about her stained glass and other creative projects. Go check out her site now! She has a blog too. :)
Wish me luck picking up some more interesting tidbits for your reading pleasure, today while I'm out and about. And I'll wish you a Happy Friday. A Happy Halloween Friday, even!
