10 Reasons To Come to September Soirée at the Art House on the 20th

 Perhaps you've seen the little graphic linking to the September Soirée web page, over here on my website. It's been up for a week or two. Let me share a little more!

The Art House, where our event is being held, is that sweet little house over near the Greensboro Children's Museum, owned by Tracey Marshall and Dawn Ashby of local Marshall Gallery fame. They offer space for "Classes, Studios & More..."

September Soirée falls under the "and more" heading.

And here are Ten Reasons you should come see us that day!

1. How many times have you promised yourself "Next year I'm going to start my holiday shopping early!" but then you keep forgetting? Don't forget this year. September 20 - that's early for me. You? 
2. But it's still "back to school shopping" time, too! Haven't you been wanting to pick up a few more things for yourself? Maybe a piece of pottery for your home... or a new pendant to spiff up some of your fresh new duds... or a funky glass art piece to get a good conversation started? Yea. We'll have all that. And then some.
   
3. One participant, Marcy Reid-Smith, regularly sells her artwork - mosaic mirrors and fused glass pendants and pottery - at Sunset River Marketplace. But on September 20, you won't have to drive all the way to the beach to find her work!
4. You love to support the arts. You love to support local artisans. Here's your chance to do both!
   
5. Maybe you caught the Clay & Glass II show (pictures here) at The Marshall Gallery last August, and if you did, you saw some of Karen Lewit's slumped glass pieces. Well not only is Karen's work phenomenal, but she also creates some of the coolest stained glass work I've seen locally. (Ever see the cool stained glass door at Cheesecakes by Alex? Yea? She and Karen Barkley, along with Betty Clark designed it.) And don't even get me started on her pottery!
6. And speaking of Karen Barkley, her pots are sold in Buxton Abbey, in Sparta, NC. But you can save the gas money and skip the drive to the mountains - just come find her work here! 
7. After you've finished helping with the Big Sweep Citywide Cleanup you're going to be so invigorated and enthused about fall, and living in or near Greensboro, you're going to want to keep hanging out with fun local folks. This is the perfect chance to come out and meet some more great people!
8. Because it's a smaller show - 8 artists are participating - you won't be overwhelmed with a warehouse-sized offering of goods. Just a perfectly-sized array of each of our favorite pieces, hand-picked just for your selection!
   
9. Susan O'Leary teaches ceramics classes at Art Alliance Greensboro. And if teaching others won't keep your skills in form... 
10. In addition to the names I mentioned earlier, you'll have the chance to peek through the latest creations of other local artisans, too! Among them:  Cherie Lachoki, Carolyn Moore and Lorrie Price. People often mention Seagrove, NC as "pottery central," but you'll soon find that there is scads of talent right here in Greensboro.

It's a multi-talented, creative group. We're having fun - and working hard - to pull together a magnificent event for you. Hope to see you there!!!
