A day of packing, errands before another little trip

Those blackberries have been on my mind a lot lately. I've been gone from the WV house for so long that I'm a little afraid I've missed my window of opportunity. What with nature's way of moving things along in a meticulous little rhythm, and all. Just because when I left there all those weeks ago, there were many, many blossoms, and lots of tiny starter beginnings of berries, too, doesn't mean time stood still and I'll return in time to find the lush, ripe berries of my dreams. The best I can hope for is that some of them will have ripened in waves and while I may have missed some, others will just be ripe for picking.

From the archives: a little story about letting myself get sucked into doing something I didn't want to do

Effervescent, curmudgeon, bodacious... Aah, words

Having just read the word "ghastly" and felt a wave of pleasure, I started thinking about how magnificent "mere" words are. It's fascinating how a single word can conjure a memory, sensation, mood...

How about some more? In no particular order, and most certainly incomplete, here is a list of words that, at this moment, make me feel all cozy just to hear them. Note: not necessarily for their meanings. For example, I certainly don't want to feel ghastly. But the word itself - hearing it spoken, recalling the fascinating accents I've heard use it, amusing myself at the memory of the exaggerated way people sometimes stretch it out when they say it... yea, I do enjoy this word!

To continue:

  • amuck. Or amok. I'm told they're both correct. One time I heard a 12 year old boy, running through a yard with flocks of other children running behind him, call out "I am running amuck!" Cracked me up...
  • translucent
  • discombobulated

SO. Now that it's been 6 months or so since I stopped designing jewelry - for anybody other than myself - I realize it's time to weed out this section of my website. But I still get enough interest from people wanting to see what I used to design, that I thought I'll start by moving some links here to the footer area. For now, anyway.
